Former Old Dominion head coach, Jerry Myers will be making his return to Columbia to be the new pitching coach. Myers agreed to take the job over the position that he once held for eight seasons replacing Mark Calvi, who is expected to be the new South Alabama head coach.

Myers is one of the greatest pitching coaches in the Country. Its good that he already is familiar with the other coaches and some of the players and also the Columbia area. He already has a feel for everything and is going to be great having him on the coaching staff for next season.

What was great about Myers was that under the eight years he spent at South Carolina, 20 of his players signed contracts at the next level. And after he left, there were seven other players who he had coaches the year before, move on and sign professional contracts.

While coaching at Old Dominion, he coached a record of 167-158.

What a great addition the Gamecocks received to their staff.

At least he's been there before. That will make the transition alot smoother and easier for everyone. It can be weird for a pitcher to sort of be thrown out of his routine mid-tenure at a school, but I imagine he will keep most of what they have going in place.
