Just days after leading the 2009 LSU Tigers baseball team to the National Championship, LSU head coach Paul Mainieri received some honors of his own.

The Collegiate Baseball newspaper named Mainieri their 2009 National Coach of the Year. The LSU Tigers won 15 of their last 16 games en route to the National Championship by virtue of their series win over Texas.

Mainieri's Tigers also captured the 2009 Southeastern Conference regular season title, and their second consecutive SEC Tournament Championship.

He has compiled a 134-62-2 record in his three seasons at LSU and led the Tigers to the College World Series in each of the past two years.
