(AP Photo) The Arkansas Razorbacks basketball team continued its got back on track Wednesday night against the South Carolina Gamecocks after falling to Alabama over the weekend.
With their 92-79 win over the Gamecocks, the Razorbacks have now won six of their past seven league games and stand alone atop the SEC West standings.
The Razorbacks have a one game lead over the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the SEC West and are in great position to earn the top seed heading in the SEC Tournament.
After finishing with a league-worst 2-14 conference record a year ago, the Razorbacks have rebounded nicely under head coach John Pelphrey's continued tutelage.
However, Pelphrey wants to make sure his team doesn't get ahead of itself. Staying focused could be a challenge for the Razorbacks down the stretch.
“You’ve got to talk to them about it because some of these guys have never been through it before,” Pelphrey said. “We talk a lot about that in terms of how many days are left.”
The Razorbacks are riding a wave of momentum and hoping that it carries through the rest of the season. If it does, Arkansas could find itself on the NCAA Tournament bubble when the SEC Tournament rolls around.
Before their win against South Carolina, RealTimeRPI.com had Arkansas at 116 in the RPI with the 40th strength of schedule nationally. Those numbers should both improve following the win, putting the Razorbacks closer to the bubble picture. |
