Alabama Crimson Tide safety Robby Green could face suspension after breaking team rules.

Green played in all 14 games during the Crimson Tide's national championship season in 2009, notching six starts at safety. He recorded 33 tackles, six pass break-ups and one interception during the season.

He was expected to compete for a starting safety for the Crimson Tide next season, replacing departed senior Justin Woodall.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban admitted that there was a situation with Green, but would not disclose further details or confirm a suspension.

"There is a situation with Robby," Saban said. "We are currently in the process of determining the facts."

"To make any kind of announcement on his playing status at this time is completely premature and it is not appropriate to do so until we have a chance to go through due process for Robby and his family. If there is a change in his current status, we will make an announcement once a final determination is made," he concluded.

Multiple sources have told the Alabama Press-Register that Green will miss spring practice and his eligibility could be in jeopardy for the entire 2010 season.

Alabama begins spring practice on March 12 and will play their annual A-Day spring game on April 17.

Apparently Alabama's Rivals site is reporting that Robby Green failed a drug test. This is his second failed test and he will have to sit out all of 2010 as a result.

Just another example of a God-gifted kid throwing away a free education and chance to live the dream for 4 years. Saban runs a tight ship over there, and this kind of stuff doesn't fly.

Yeah, really makes you wonder how much these kids get handed to them that they can be so oblivious and just throw it all away.

I always liked Green because he's from New Orleans and I saw him play at Curtis once against Mandeville High School. Shame to see him waste such a great opportunity.
