Things got interesting over the weekend for a pair of SEC Football teams, as Tennessee Volunteers football players got tangled up with Kentucky Wildcats football players at a party in Lexington.

While the details are still being looked into and no formal charges or arrests have yet been made, the ongoing investigation promises to reveal some very interesting things, one way or another.

SEC Sports Hub learned from a source close to the Kentucky program on Tuesday that there was indeed an altercation between Kentucky and Tennessee football players, much in line with several rumors floating around the internet over the past few days.

The incident took place Saturday night at the Royal Lexington apartment complex in Lexington, Kentucky. The apartment where the fracas occurred belongs to a female Kentucky athlete who had a few friends from the Tennessee football program over for the party.

At some point during the night, several prominent Kentucky players were informed that the Tennessee players were in town.

Several of the Kentucky players, reportedly including All-SEC linebacker Micah Johnson, arrived at the scene of the party and a dispute broke out between the players.

According to our source, who asked to remain anonymous, one of the Kentucky players present had a shotgun. Despite initial reports that there were shots fired, SEC Sports Hub has been unable to confirm this information.

At some point during the night, police arrived on the scene. However, no one was arrested and as of yet no one has been charged. Johnson is the only player on either team that we have been able to confirm was present.

Johnson's status on the social networking site Facebook following the event read as follows, "the Truth will come out," presumably referencing the incident.

Neither school has made any mention of the incident and the local media have yet to report on the story, as the details are still being sifted out.

This is an ongoing report and SEC Sports Hub will keep you up-to-date with the latest breaking information.

UPDATE - July 15th 10:00 PM ET - We would like to reiterate, at this point, that we are completely behind our source and the information he provided to us. However, at this time it appears that no charges will be filed on either side and that the police investigation into the matter has come to an end.
