Abram was 5-foot-9, 186-pounds and from Southhaven, Miss. He attended DeSoto Central High School before going to Itawamba Community College.
He transferred to Ole Miss this spring and walked onto the football team.
"Bennie was a fine young man and a hard worker," coach Houston Nutt said. "He was a great person to be around and a well-mannered young man. His loss is so tragic. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and all who knew Bennie."
Current Ole Miss redshirt freshman defensive tackle Nick Eley and senior defensive back Demareo Marr also attended DeSoto Central.
Abram's death marks the second death of an SEC football player this week after Vanderbilt running back signee Rajaan Bennett was murdered early Thursday morning. |
