The Tennessee Volunteers topped the SEC in attendance during the 2009 season, packing an average of 99,220 people into Neyland Stadium.

As we reported yesterday, the Southeastern Conference once again led the nation in attendance at football games during the 2009 college football season.

For the 12th straight year, the SEC led all other conferences in attendance, averaging 76,288 people per game. That mark fell just short of the SEC record of 76,844 per game, set during the 2008 season.

The SEC had five of the Top 10 teams in total attendance and also boasted nine Top 25 teams in attendance. In all, 6,560,738 people attended SEC football games during the 2009 season.

In addition, the Mississippi State Bulldogs saw a larger increase in fans from 2008 to 2009 than any other program, getting 10,339 more fans on average during the 2009 season.
