(Getty Images) The South Carolina Gamecocks football team learned Thursday morning that backup quarterback Aramis Hillary was arrested late Wednesday night and charged with possession of alcohol by a minor and public intoxication.
Hillary, a 19-year-old redshirt sophomore, was expected to compete for the backup quarterback position behind starter Steven Garcia. He has yet to see any playing time yet at South Carolina.
According to Lexington County Detention Center records, Hillary was arrested along with his brother CoCo Hillary. His brother was charged with driving under the influence.
South Carolina Athletic Department policy states that Hillary will be suspended indefinitely pending the resolution of the charges.
Hillary was rated as a three-star prospect by the Rivals recruiting service in 2008. He was also rated as the 14th-best dual-threat quarterback nationally and the 19th-best player in the state of South Carolina.
He was a member of the 2009 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll. |
