WR Alonzo Lewis was one of two players to verbally commit to the LSU Tigers football over the weekend at junior day. (Rivals.com Photo) The LSU Tigers football team landed two verbal commitments over the weekend after hosting their annual junior day event for prospects in the 2011 recruiting class.
Wide receiver Alonzo Lewis and linebacker Trevon Randle both verbally committed to the Tigers on Saturday afternoon, giving the Tigers their eighth and ninth commitments for the 2011 class.
Randle is rated as a four-star prospect at linebacker by the Scout recruiting service, while Lewis is ranked as a one-star prospect at receiver. Neither player has been evaluated yet by the Rivals recruiting staff.
Randle a 6-foot-2, 205-pound junior at Clear Springs High School in Texas recorded 152 tackles, 1 sack, 3 interceptions and 4 fumble recoveries during the 2009 season.
He is a great athlete with a 4.46-second time in the 40-yard dash. According to Scout, his only real weakness is change of direction.
Lewis is a 6-foot-2, 200-pound receiver with 4.5-second speed in the 40-yard dash. He participated in LSU's camp after having a great showing at the Army All-American Combine in January. |
