Cornerback Cody Riggs verbally committed to the Florida Gators football team for the 2010 recruiting class on Thursday night, despite Florida losing defensive coordinator Charlie Strong to Louisville.
Riggs is ranked as a 4-star prospect at cornerback, according to the Rivals recruiting service. He also ranks as the 8th-best cornerback nationally, the 18th-best player in the state of Florida and the 105th-best player nationally.
At 5-foot-9, 156-pounds, Riggs will need to add some mass to play cornerback at the collegiate level, but he has elite speed and is a natural cornerback.
During his junior season at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Riggs recorded 25 tackles, 25 pass breakups and eight interceptions.
With his commitment, Cody Riggs becomes the 19th player committed to the Florida Gators for the 2010 recruiting class. He is the 14th player committed with at least a 4-star ranking on Rivals.
